AI Railway OHE Monitoring System
Real-time overhead equipment measurement during high-speed train movement, accurate to ±10 mm.

The challenge
Overhead equipment geometry was measured manually during night possessions — slow, hazardous, and impossible to run across a full network at any useful frequency.
Our approach
- 01 Mounted a synchronised camera and sensor rig on an in-service inspection coach
- 02 Trained detection models for the pantograph, contact wire and mast structures
- 03 Calibrated the optical pipeline to hold ±10 mm accuracy at operating speed
- 04 Tagged every measurement with GPS so defects resolve to a specific mast
The impact
Inspection time fell by about 60% and measurement moved from occasional manual sampling to continuous coverage collected during normal service running.
